Dr. Bürklin-Wolf and the famous village of Deidesheim
The Palatinate is the largest growing region for Riesling in the world and is found in Southern Germany. Boasting 85km of picturesque wine routes, more than 100 million vines grow in the region.
One of the largest wineries in Wachenheim is Dr. Bürklin-Wolf. In the “Gault & Millau Weinguide Germany 2020,” the winery has been elevated to the exclusive circle of “world class” – which only 27 German wineries have achieved to date!
The wine: 2019 Langenmorgen G.C. Riesling BIO trocken – Weingut Dr. Bürklin-Wolf. Looking for an expressive and fine white wine that shows strong body, vitality and an intense bouquet? Then this is the wine to go for! The white wine is one of the top wines from the Palatinate and is a valuable holiday wine. Its liveliness is pleasant and animated. The taste is wonderfully fine and slim. The exclusive thing about this vintage: It offers a high intensity and stays on the palate for a long time. The white wine offers very good storage potential and also bears the EU organic seal and can therefore be designated as organic wine.
The experience: Deidesheim is a small, tranquil town located on Weinstrasse, in the Rhineland-Palatinate district of Bad Dürkheim. Although the town has only 3760 inhabitants, it attracts thousands of visitors every month for its incredible building architecture, top-class gastronomy and renowned winegrowers. How about a gift package including an amazing bottle from one of the “world class” wineries and a voucher for a few nights in this wonderful Ketschauer Hof in Deidesheim? The package Ketschauer Hof Experience includes a 7-course-menu in their one star Michelin Restaurant L.A. Jordan. This will definitely be an unforgettable highlight!
Peter Jakob Kühn and an unforgettable hike with wine dispensers
The tranquil Rheingau district is a premium and charming wine region of Germany. It is said to be one of the best wine regions in the world, especially for Rieslings. Well, in our opinion, it certainly is!
Running as a family business for over 230 years, Peter Jakob Kühn Winery has certainly earned its legacy within Hesse. The products range from dry and fruity Rieslings to Pinot Noir and sparkling wines, so there’s something for every pallet.
The wine: If after a wine with a reputation, the Doosberg GG, matured for two years, was rated 19.5 in the 2018 WeinWisser magazine. This delectable wine has strong aromas of ripe apples, apricots, and pear with delicate floral hints to add a fine yet harmonious touch. Once you take the first sip, you won’t be able to resist the intricate aromas that will linger on your palate as you breathe in the sweet Rheingau air.
The experience: While savoring the unique tastes of Riesling wines, picturesque castles that are 900 years old and cobble-stoned villages with views of the Rhine are waiting to be explored. Start your adventure hike in Rüdesheim, one of Hesse’s charming villages, which gets busy with wine and hiking tourists during the summer months. The Rheinsteig offers beautiful views of the surrounding vineyards as you head towards the Loreley. Make sure to take the cable car when starting the hike and stop at wine stations that are placed along the trail.
Kühling Gillot and a bike tour along the Rhein
Mainz, the city famous for its old town with its half-timbered houses and medieval marketplaces, is surrounded by beautiful vineyards and the Rhein river.
Managed by Carolin Spanier-Gillot and her husband, Winery Kühling Gillot is located in a small town called Bodenheim, not far from Mainz.
The wine: The Kühling-Gillot winery is particularly proud of the Niersteiner Pettenthal and describes the wines from this Grosse Lage as “diva in the spotlight.” The Pettenthal site is situated to the south of the Rothenberg. The two vineyards actually flow together to form a section of the Roter Hang, with nearly identical exposition and soil composition. The Pettenthal Riesling GG 2019 was awarded 96-97 points by Robert Parker and is described as a taut, lively Riesling, one that hums with equal parts energy and charm. There are only a few bottles of the 2019 vintage left, available here.
The experience: Bike enthusiasts and nature lovers will enjoy this gift package, as it offers the best to explore in the region! Ride along the river with the impressive views, several wineries, small villages (check out Hochheim am Main) or the well-known city Mainz. All of that can be easily reached by bike!
